Speaking
Through my education and research, my own forays into leadership and followership, and my accompaniment of others through theirs, I have learned much about human development and its inextricable connections to leadership, about power and authority and how they manifest and are taken up in systems, about the complexity of groups and teams and the roles we assume by choice and by default, and about change. But, none of the theories related to these topics matters if we are unable to see how they connect to us individually, as we attempt to navigate the challenges we face as humans in systems ranging from relationships, to organizations, to societies and cultures.
Where the rubber meets the road for me has always been at the intersection of theory and practice. I believe that the value of a theory is in its usefulness, in its capacity to be not only understood but tried on and walked around in.
Through my speaking engagements, I invite folks into the exploration using their first-hand knowledge of self and experience to locate themselves in the topic at hand. My speaking engagements are very rarely characterized by “talking at,” rather they engage folks in the exploration through experiential approaches. Individuals come away having learned something about a theory, a framework, an approach, but more importantly, having accessed their own experience of it.
If this interactive, experiential approach feels like just what your next event needs, please be in touch to see if I may be of service to you. Schedule a complimentary get-to-know you session.
