Coming into relationship with the fullness of you is a practice. It involves noticing that we have a cast of characters that show up in the scenes of our lives…sometimes invited, sometimes not. It calls on us to mind the gap between the way we intend to show up to our lives and the way we actually do. It necessitates illuminating the storyline that has guided us, what it serves in us, and how it does not. And, it requires befriending the parts of self that we have attempted to lock out of the theater of our lives.

I believe that transformation of other, of organization, of system, of society is not possible without the transformation of self. Transformation not only includes the looking forward, but necessitates the looking back to understand how we got here and to connect to intention for what (and who) comes next.

Stepping into the light to illuminate our full self can be scary. Sometimes we need a companion to accompany us in our unfolding.

Through my facilitation with teams and organizations, I accompany individuals into a deeper knowing of the characters that are being cast in the scenes of their professional lives and an understanding of why. Using the metaphor of theater, we make discussable and navigable the dynamics at play within self and between others as the characters within the organization interact. We explore and make known what contexts and conditions allow us to bring our bigger selves – those characters who are capable of taking on different perspectives, navigating complexity, and unearthing new approaches and options to our most pressing challenges. And, we also make space for the inevitable times when our fallen back self comes on the stage. In so doing, we begin to connect to our intentions, individually and collectively, to design the kind of culture that allows us to try on different roles, and in some cases, to flip the script altogether.

Through my speaking engagements, I invite folks into the exploration using their first-hand knowledge of self and experience to picture themselves in the topic at hand. My speaking engagements are very rarely characterized by “talking at,” rather they engage folks in the discovery through experiential approaches. Individuals come away having learned something about a theory, a framework, an approach, but more importantly, having learned something about themselves.
